Making Sure Your Cat Gets Plenty of Exercise

First and foremost, exercise is important to a cat's overall health. It can help keep their weight in check, expend extra energy, and stimulate or exercise their mental well-being. Carving out a playtime session, even if it is just 15 minutes, can make all the difference. Your cat will enjoy the additional time with their family, enhancing the human-animal bond. And, if you have a busy daily schedule, that actually works out perfectly. Cats are most active at dawn and dusk, so evening or early morning sessions are excellent options!

Fun Exercise Ideas for Your Feline Friend
  • The easiest option is toys. There are many different options available, and cats have their own preferences, but many like wands or those with feathers or crinkle sounds.
  • If your cat does not prefer to engage with toys, another option is providing them with a multi-story cat tree. This allows them to move, jump and explore.
  • Cats also can learn to walk on a leash, if they desire. It is very important to secure your cat with a harness instead of just a collar, though!

Other Enrichment Ideas
  • Puzzle toys like interactive treat balls, and interactive feeders like Licki Mat for cats, Kong for cats, and slow feeder bowls keep cats engaged and help prevent them from eating too much, too fast.
  • Obstacles like hidden treats help your cat get in tune with its natural hunting abilities. Hiding rewards, like our Purrsnackitty soft & savory cat treats, can give cats the opportunity to capitalize on their instincts.
  • Exercise wheels can be another enrichment idea with proper training and supervision for safety!

No matter the option used for enrichment or activity, always supervise your cat to be sure they are enjoying themselves safely!
